BROADCAST THE NIGHTMARE

I went to see FOR TODAY,A PLEA FOR PURGING, AND RECON. This band I've really never heard of other than their record label which has a band I like called Stray From The Path. They opened up the show and I was blown away by their technical metal. I got to talk to them and I got an interview with their guitarist Kyle!

THISISOURNOISE:How long have you guys been a band?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:We formed in October 2003 as An Irony Massacre, as mentioned previously. Through the members and name changing, we've been a band now for almost 6 years.
THISISOURNOISE:How did the name BROADCAST THE NIGHTMARE come about?
BROADCASTHENIGHTMARE:Justin and I were in a band called An Irony Massacre. After multiple lineup changes over the course of 4 years, we felt that AIM was no longer a name that really defined who we were anymore. Although the music still retains a similar feel to what we've always done, Broadcast the Nightmare fits us better. The transition happened in late 2007.
THISISOURNOISE:What is the current tour you guys are on and is it different from any other tour you've been on?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Right now we're on the "We Created A Mons-Tour" with A Plea for Purging, and We Came As Romans. This tour is different due to the fact that we are playing with bands that aren't quite in our genre. The crowds have been different than we are used to, but playing for a new demographic is never a bad thing.
THISISOURNOISE:If you could have a dream tour with any bands past/present,who would it be?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Everyone in the band has a differing opinion on this question, but my choice would have to be Killswitch Engage. It would be an honor to tour with them.
THISISOURNOISE:What has inspired/influenced you guys while writing your new album? (such as bands, books, movies, etc)
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Our record "Twenty Twelve" hit stores on 4/14/09. Our main inspirations? Life in general. We all have our problems in life; everyone copes differently. We write music. The hardships we face and the questions we have were instrumental in forming the ideas behind "Twenty Twelve". Always think for yourself.
THISISOURNOISE:how did it come about for you guys to get signed to Sumerian?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:When we recorded our EP "The Doomsday Revolt" in late 2007, a good friend of ours, who is well known in the music business, suggested to Shawn and Ash at Sumerian to check it out. We posted the songs on our Myspace page; shortly afterwards, Sumerian contacted us. We inked a deal in December 2007.
THISISOURNOISE:What has been your favorite area to play shows?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Definitely the Southeast.
THISISOURNOISE:What has been the best accomplishment as a band so far?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Having a quality record in stores across the country! We are still "new" to the national scene, so that's a big thing for us! Having been invited to play this year's New England Metal and Hardcore Festival was an honor as well.
THISISOURNOISE:What has been a lowest point on your band's career?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:We parted ways with a guitarist and longtime band member last year. Having played together for so long, it was difficult moving on to another guitar player. Fortunately, our new guitarist Alan was able to fill the gap wonderfully, and we are beyond excited to have him on board.
THISISOURNOISE:Anything else you guys would like to include?
BROADCASTTHENIGHTMARE:Buy our record, learn the lyrics, and come to a show!
